Afternoon tea in Chingford. The real thing.
Not a hotel package. Not a pub special. Afternoon tea done the way it should be — properly made, beautifully presented, worth every minute of sitting down for.
Casa does afternoon tea the way home cooks do it when they’re trying to impress. Scones made in-house, not defrosted. Clotted cream that arrives in a proper dish. Berry compote made on site. Loose leaf teas brewed in real pots. The kind of spread that makes you slow down without even trying.
It’s the right pace for a birthday treat, a catch-up with someone you’ve not seen properly in months, or just a Tuesday when you decide you deserve something a bit more than a flat white and a biscuit.

What afternoon tea at Casa looks like
It starts with the scones. English scones, baked here, served warm with clotted cream and our house berry compote. That bit alone is worth coming for.
The pastry selection changes with what’s good — croissants, pain au chocolat, almond croissant, pain au raisin, maple pecan plaits. All made fresh, none of them sitting around waiting to be picked. The cake board rotates daily — burnt Basque cheesecake, pecan pie, Mum’s Cake (ask what it is, it changes, it’s always worth it). The giant profiterole with crème pâtissière and dark chocolate ganache if you’re going all in.
Tea comes in pots. Loose leaf, not bags. English Breakfast, Earl Grey, green tea, jasmine, camomile, lemon, ginger, super fruit, pumpkin spice chai. Fresh mint tea if you want something lighter. The speciality coffee is there too — flat white, cortado, matcha latte with collagen — for anyone who doesn’t do tea.
And if you want to make it a proper occasion — the cocktail list is open. Aperol spritz with afternoon tea hits differently than you’d expect. The French martini too.

A space that feels like it was made for this
Afternoon tea in a place that looks right makes the whole thing better. Casa isn’t a hotel lobby or a pub function room. It’s a neighbourhood café bar with natural light, warm interiors, and the kind of atmosphere that makes two hours disappear without you noticing.
The team here pays attention. If it’s someone’s birthday, say so when you book — they’ll make sure it feels like one. If someone in the group doesn’t do gluten or dairy, mention it ahead and it’ll be sorted. No fuss, no forms, just a phone call or a note in the booking.
It’s the kind of afternoon that gets talked about afterwards. That’s the point.
